“I think people have had due respect and consideration that when I go out and do something different on my own it’s going to be different to my normal thing. I haven’t had huge success with my solo albums worldwide sales wise but I’ve always been happy with what I’ve produced and the fans have likewise.” |
“I’ve tried giving it away but something would always come up like I would get a phone call and someone would ask me to come and play. One thing that has changed things is that back in the 70’s and 80’s you wouldn’t get to go into the studio and record anything unless you were financed by a record company. The good thing that has happened is now people can record themselves if they want to and because we can I have been able to continue doing album projects since the mid 90’s really.” |
“I mucked around a lot in the 80’s with synthesizers and it robbed me of a lot of my enthusiasm for music and it was only later when I was at university that I rediscovered acoustic instrumentation and it was that rediscovery of acoustic instrumentation that refocused my musical attention |
“One think I like about music is that in a world of authors and artists it seems that they’re always a competitive thing going on with all different people but in music everyone in the band wants you to do well because they think of it as a group effort so if you have a skilled player or singer they will do their best to have you come off sounding as good as possible. In other fields there is always this one upmanship going on which isn’t very attractive.” |
“I think a lot of records were sounding the same around that time in the 80’s and I know ours also does sound very 80’s to describe the sound. I do remember recording and it was definitely pretty rocking in the studio but when it came to the mixing it was definitely polished up as things wdere at the time but I think the songs have still stood up for themselves.” |
